This bullet was inspired by Bob Beck, host of EOL, and designed by Bryan Litz. Bob and EOL are building rifles that are capable of shooting extremely aggressive bullets, so Bryan and Berger Bullets have risen to the challenge of producing such a bullet. The 195gr EOL bullet has the highest ballistic performance of any 7mm bullet currently in existence, and is truly the first of its kind for a number of reasons.

The first thing to note about this bullet is that it breaks with the common trend-line for heavy bullets in a given caliber.  Typically, 180 grains is the heaviest weight available in 7mm.  This bullet adds 15 grains to that.

The additional weight is split between the bearing surface and longer nose.  Compared to the 7mm 180 grain Target Hybrid, the bearing surface is 0.096” longer, and the nose is 0.022” longer.  The 7 degree BT’s are about the same.

With a sectional density of 0.345 lb/in2, the ability of this bullet to slip through the air and impact game animals with more energy is off the charts.  By comparison, the Berger .30 caliber 210 grain Hunting VLD has a sectional density of 0.316 lb/in2.

The hybrid ogive ensures length tolerance and minimal drag by design, while the 7 degree boat tail minimizes base drag and provides favorable stability characteristics at transonic speed.

Berger Hybrid bullets are designed to achieve extreme accuracy for competitive and recreational target shooters. Berger Hybrid bullets combine a tangent ogive with a secant ogive to produce the highest possible BC with the least sensitivity to seating depth. This allows the reloader to take full advantage of the best features of both designs.

The Elite Hunter line of Hybrid Hunting Bullet was designed for shooters that are using custom rifles and are not limited to SAAMI dimensional standards and bullet seating depths. These bullets have a longer nose than the classic hunter bullet line providing hunters with the best ballistic performance possible.

    Awesome bullet

I shoot them out of a straight .284 with an 8 twist barrel. I average 2743fps with an sd of 4.4!! They are super sccurate and easy to tune. I hope you continue to make them. I use them for long range competition and F-class.

    great long range bullet!

You absolutely need to listen to the recommendations for barrel twist. these bullets hit extremely hard at long ranges, they have a little more drop than the 168 VLD I was shooting, but it's a similar trajectory with almost 1.5x the energy at 1000 yards.

    Berger 195 gr. 7mm bullets

Posted by Tom Green on Oct 21st 2015

Bob, these bullets shot very well in my 7LRM .The best groups were attained with H-1000 powder. However I hit the pressure wall at 2850 FPS and because of that I get no real advantage over the 180's. It is just as you told me it would be, the case is too small. There are certainly no flies on this performance as it gives greater momentum to the load and its shorter range performance may be improved in that close range bullet blow ups should be eliminated.

    best 7mm bullet yet

I always am thankful that Berger is pushing the envelope on bullets. These are going to be a big step up. I was very upset that I paid 15 bucks more a box from this site than other sites that have them. It will definitely be in my mind for future purchases.
